What the evidence needs to show
- Catalogue scoping is the first step; HS code or trade name alone is insufficient
- Routes can include type testing, factory inspection and post-certification surveillance
- Certification units, critical parts, ODM/OEM and factories affect certificate scope
Build the evidence in this order
- Confirm compulsory scope from catalogue and definitions
- Select a designated body and applicable implementation rule
- Prepare application, type tests and factory files
- Complete inspection, correction, certification and mark control
Common misunderstandings
- Out-of-scope products cannot be covered by a similar product certificate
- A valid certificate does not excuse unreported critical production changes
