Plan decisions, not only shipping dates
Include the time needed to approve artwork, obtain material information, complete applicable tests and resolve failures. Confirm supplier and inspection availability during peak periods. Avoid a fixed universal calendar; a new electrical product and a repeat textile order can require very different preparation.
Identify risks created by assortment
Holiday bundles and colour assortments need checks at both unit and carton level. Confirm labels, quantities, seasonal artwork and included accessories. Set the sampling and packing checks before the order is mixed into sealed cartons; inaccessible stock can limit what an inspector can verify.
Reserve a recovery path
Illustrative case: final inspection finds the wrong assortment in a promotion bundle. Agree segregation, repacking evidence and the repeat-check scope while logistics can still be adjusted. A deadline should not turn an unresolved result into a pass; the buyer needs the remaining uncertainty and practical alternatives.
