What the evidence needs to show

  • Device classification determines the 47 CFR rule part and authorisation route
  • Antenna, band, power, modulation, software and host configuration affect scope
  • Certification generally uses accredited testing and a TCB grant with an FCC ID

Build the evidence in this order

  1. Classify transmitters and unintentional radiators
  2. Set rule parts, modes and worst-case configurations
  3. Complete applicable RF, spurious and exposure tests
  4. Prepare filing, labels, user information and records

Common misunderstandings

  • Do not use an FCC ID or make authorisation claims before the route is complete
  • A certified module does not automatically remove host integration, antenna, SDoC or labelling duties
