Start with the product classification
Confirm rated supply, appliance class, intended environment and target markets. Identify the applicable product standard, required routine checks and any separate laboratory programme. Protective earthing is relevant to particular constructions; numerical limits and test conditions must come from the agreed method, not a generic appliance checklist.
Record operating conditions
For heating, cooling, power or noise checks, record the setup, load, operating mode, measurement position and instrument. Inspect the cord, enclosure, controls and accessories against the specification. Describe any missing fixture or unsuitable facility that prevents a required check from being completed.
Keep retest history visible
Illustrative case: an appliance fails a function check and passes after an internal connection is repaired. Keep the original failure, repair description and retest result. Determine whether other units may share the connection issue and whether wider screening or laboratory assessment is needed before the buyer decides on release.
