Start with the approved specification
Confirm the size chart revision, points of measurement, tolerances, approved colour reference and fabric specification. Record whether measurements are taken flat, stretched or after conditioning. A number without a defined measuring method can create a dispute even when both teams measured carefully.
Sample across the assortment
Identify the available units by style, size, colour and carton. Agree how the sample is distributed; an overall sample size alone does not specify coverage of every variant. Check seams, trims, closures, labels and folding against the approved reference, then retain actual measurements with unit identifiers.
Separate an observation from a decision
A loose thread, open seam and exposed needle fragment have different implications. Use the agreed defect catalogue and escalate safety concerns immediately. Illustrative case: several sleeves exceed the agreed tolerance. Record the affected sizes and measurement method, request targeted rework and define what a repeat inspection must verify.
