Factory capacity audit: find the bottleneck behind the headline number
Service reference image from the TTS library.

Separate theoretical and available capacity

Record the product mix, operating shifts, changeovers, maintenance and expected yield. A machine nameplate or a peak production day is not a monthly delivery commitment. Confirm how much of the relevant line is already allocated and which assumptions the supplier used in the quoted capacity.

Follow the slowest operation

Observe a representative production period and compare it with historical records. Review upstream supply, testing, finishing, packing and subcontracted processes. An assembly line may run quickly while coating, curing or final testing limits the finished output. Record the dependency and evidence gaps explicitly.

Test the order against realistic scenarios

Illustrative case: the order fits nominal assembly capacity but requires a shared mould used by another customer. Ask for the allocation plan, tooling availability and recovery arrangements for interruption. The buyer can then assess delivery assumptions; the audit is a time-specific view, not a guarantee of future capacity.
