QC and QA: connect product checks with process assurance

Quality control examines fulfilment

QC activities compare products or process outputs with defined requirements. Checks can happen at incoming, in-process and final stages, rather than only after production. Results can identify nonconforming material, measured deviation or a failed function; the acceptance decision uses the agreed scope and criteria.

Quality assurance builds confidence in the system

QA involves planned arrangements such as document control, competence, process validation where relevant, change management and corrective-action follow-up. An audit can examine these arrangements and their records. Written procedures matter only when the actual work and evidence show that they are implemented effectively.

Connect the two through a specific defect

Illustrative case: final QC finds repeated missing accessories. QA work examines picking instructions, kit identification and the packing control that allowed the omission. Verify the revised process and the next packed batch. The balance of QC and QA should follow risk and performance, not a universal budget ratio.
